Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) faced the same challenges that all large urban school systems with poverty and language barriers do: poor connectivity and low graduation rates. The Superintendent and his school leaders wanted to develop a multi-level solution to improve student education, connection, and graduation rates. Aside from implementing new educational systems, the high schools were also looking for other complementary programs to help increase the student retention and give them a strong feeling of belonging.
In 2010, LBUSD worked alongside VIP Branding to explore educational solutions for their community. The VIP Branding team went to work and created exciting new branding, an amazing new online shop, and provided campus improvement materials that resonated with the students, staff, and community. Bear Valley Unified School District (BVUSD) serves 7 schools and each school logo lacked one thing – unity. With outdated logos and an outdated brand identity, BVUSD wanted to update its websites and took the initiative to turn to VIP Branding to rebrand. The logos showed no consistency until we created a new and improved brand identity for the district. By focusing on each school, we were able to incorporate a design for the logos that displayed uniformity while keeping the individuality that each school possessed. The elementary schools received mascots that were more youthful and the middle school and high schools received mascots that contained a more mature nature to resemble the attitude of its students. VIP Branding redesigned Bishop Montgomery High Schools logo, giving an updated style and unique brand identity. The Knight mascot was designed to represent nobility and even the way the sword is held is intentional. The sword is tip down and provides a secondary purpose as a cross to represent their spirituality. The sleek new design gives the school and the students something to be proud of.
The use of an elegant timeless font and a mascot that is stately, confident and honorable projects the new brand image of Bishop Montgomery High School.
